In the second half of 2012, we undertook the first repair of a wall clock in our career. The clock was given to us in parts. Very small parts. So, in addition to the repair itself, we also had to figure out how to put it back together.
The biggest challenge turned out to be repairing the wooden clock case. From the very beginning we were concerned about the large number of tiny holes. She only suggested one thing – this clock had many household members and unfortunately we had no guarantee that they didn’t still live there.
First of all, they had to be removed using special deep-penetrating preparations. The next step was a thorough renovation of the box along with the reconstruction of some of the elements that were destroyed by the tree eaters.
Fortunately, repairing the mechanism was no longer such a big problem. It required a thorough cleaning of the mechanism and its adjustment so that the clock could hear the chimes again.
