At the end of 2011 we received a table to practise renovation. It was in a very bad condition, the glue stopped holding anything together and the table was incomplete. It was missing an entire module for extending the tabletop and the worst thing was that it was inhabited by darkling beetles. The tabletop used to be extendable, but now it was stuck with nails to the stile, which proved to be the only items keeping the table in one, relatively stable piece.
While we were working we realised that the table required a thorough renovation, reconstruction of its legs, and some work on the stile. Work on the tabletop took much of our time and one reason for that was it being stained with something resembling ink. The substance penetrated the wooden structure so deep that removing it required time-consuming work. Another challenge was the process of putting new veneer coats on, which was not a simple and straightforward process for our Workshop.
The renovation of the table and its final result proved, however, that the time we devoted and our effort allowed us to prevent the destruction of another piece of furniture, which now continues to serve its owners and it became the centrepiece of their dining room.
